Trial Overview

The NEBA trial was successfully completed in April 2009.

You can learn more about the study design at clinicaltrials.gov

A total of 364 subjects were enrolled in the trial at 13 separate clinical sites. Each subject received a comprehensive workup (or exam) for ADHD and other psychiatric disorders. The trial evaluated associations of the NEBA EEG measure with best estimate diagnosis for ADHD.

The trial examined subjects who consecutively presented with attention and behavioral problems to participating clinics. An important part of the study design was the inclusion of all subjects with ADHD-like symptoms whether due to ADHD or not.

Over a 4-5 week period, subjects received a comprehensive workup including:

  • Physical exam with hearing and vision tests
  • Medical/neurological/medication histories
  • IQ and achievement tests
  • Scales, questionnaires, and clinical interviews

Best estimate diagnosis of ADHD was determined by clinicians using the comprehensive workup. EEG was collected separately and then compared to results of the best estimate diagnosis.
